The
Center for the Arts' nationally recognized Pied Piper
Theatre (PPT), welcomes young people ages 8 through 18 to
explore the world of theatre both on the stage and behind
the curtain. Offering three fully staged musical presentations
a year, this award-winning children's theatre provides
dramatic and musical theatre training while building
confidence, responsibility, and self-esteem.
Hundreds of extraordinarily talented youth have performed
in the last two decades in such popular musical productions
as Cinderella, Annie, Peter Pan, Oliver!,
Robin Hood and
The Wizard of Oz. PPT offers a training program in technical
theatre, providing opportunities for students to learn
stage management, set design, lighting, and sound. From
the classics to award winning
musical presentations such as Willy Wonka, Jr
and Charlotte's Web. PPT provides the best in entertainment
for the entire family.
DIRECTOR—Vince Worthington, a Michigan native, has previous experience as a Spanish, drama and history teacher, a literary manager, an interpreter and a Mormon missionary. He is thrilled to be bringing Beauty & the Beast to the stage. His Washington, D.C., directing credits include Wait Until Dark (Foundry), A Christmas Carol (PGLT), Don’t Dress for Dinner (Dominion), The Comedy of Errors (LTA), Not as Cute as Picture, Icarus, Kilt, As Bees in Honey Drown, The David Dance (Trumpet Vine), Babe, The Sheep Pig (Adventure Theatre), Annie, The Hobbit, The Little Mermaid, Jungle Book, Sleepy Hollow, Oliver!, The Wizard of Oz & Willy Wonka, Jr. (Pied Piper). While an associate literary manager at Arena State, Worthington was the dramaturg for All My Sons, Guys and Dolls, Tom Walker, A Streetcar Named Desire, The Great White Hope and Constant Star. He received a bachelor’s degree in Spanish education with minors in Theatre and History from Brigham Young University and attended the University of Kansas Theatre Department master’s program. He has also had training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA) and University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Worthington is a full-time Spanish teacher, a scenic designer, a budding playwright and a translator of Spanish language plays. He served as Trumpet Vine Theatre Company’s Artistic Director from 2002-2006.
